April Featured Race – Gator Gallop 5K

Get ready for the annual Gator Gallop 5K Fun Run/Walk! The 5K is a flat road race around scenic Lake Quannapowitt, beginning and ending at the same area on the lower common. The Kids 1-Mile Fun Run, for children ages 10 and under, also takes place from the lower common. Although the 1-Mile route is protected and lined with parents cheering on their children, parents do not run the 1-Mile, so this race may not be appropriate for children under age 5.

The proceeds will benefit the Greenwood School PTO and the Wakefield Educational Foundation (WEF). The Greenwood School PTO funds classroom supplies, books for the school library, cultural and school community events. WEF provides a bridge to allow funding for hands-on learning that is unobtainable within the current school system budget. These needs are met with the generosity of businesses, organizations and individuals like you.

Registration is super simple and can be done at RaceWire!

When: Saturday, April 1, 2017
8:15 AM: Check-in opens.
8:30 AM: Warm up for kids
9:00 AM: Kids’ 1M starts.
9:30 AM: 5K Run/Walk starts.

4th Annual Running & Walking Well 5K

Running_Walking_Well_5k_2015_Logo525X500General Race Information: Because of you, we were able to dig three wells in Ghana in 2016, a well in Leala, Tanzania in 2015 and a well in Moi’s Bridge, Kenya in 2014. These wells provide drinkable water for schools and thousands of adults and children in the surrounding villages.   Prior to the wells being dug some villagers had to walk up to four miles to get drinkable water. Below are photos of the dedication of the in Leala on June 6th, 2016 and photos of the well we dug in Moi’s Bridge, Kenya. Our hope for 2017 is to dig a well in Morocco with the proceeds of our 4th Running & Walking Well 5K.  Thank you for running, walking, volunteering, donating and sponsoring.

Cupid’s Chase 5K Postponed Until Feb 18th

From Cupid’s Chase 5K Facebook Page:

The race has been postponed until next Saturday, February 18, 2017. Same time and same place.

After speaking to the hotel, police, and many other people it has been decided that the roads are just going to get to icey with the melting today and freezing temperatures tonight, not to mention the snow to hide it all!

I will still be at Marathon Sports tonight from 4-7 for packet pick up and early registration. And next Saturday registration will open at 8:00 as it was going to tomorrow.

In addition, we are able to open registration again until next Thursday! So if you haven’t registered yet but intend to and are able to make it next week, you still have time to register and the lower pre registration price!

I apologize, I’m disappointed but unfortunately it’s out of my control at this point.
Thank you for your understanding and we hope to see you next week for some good running/walking, delicious beer, and overall great time!

More information about Angel, our run-leader:
Angel moved to Lynn from Boston in 2005. Finding herself in need of a new friends and a healthy activity to be involved in, she took up running. She became serious about the sport in 2008. After participating in countless 5ks, 10ks and half marathons, her local running club provided her an invitational entry to the 114th running of the 2010 Boston. Additionally, Angel has participated in the USATF New England Mountain, Ultra & Trail Running series and has since branched off into other activities, such obstacle course race training and cycling, but running will always be her “first love.”

“There are many established weekly runs all across the north shore, and having these runs has helped to foster my relationships and develop new ones, so when Bent Water Brewing Co. came to Lynn, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to not only support a local business, but also to provide runners who live in this community with the luxury of a year round weekly run.” – Angel Dee
